I booked tickets with Virgin to visit my parents over the Christmas holiday. Unfortunately, my trip won’t qualify for this deal because of the blackout dates for this promotional deal. But surprisingly, Virgin was even cheaper than Southwest. I really hate flying, but now that I am flying Virgin… I’m pretty excited! I’ve never flown with them before, I guess I am a Virgin “Virgin” (hehe). I’ll be sure to report back with my review of this airline and the experience. Kudos to Virgin for raising the bar.

What is Harissa? It is a spicy chili paste common to North African cuisines, such as Moroccan and Tunisian. Spices such as cumin, caraway, and coriander are blended with smoked chili peppers to form a paste. The result is strikingly velvet red sauce that blends well into dishes to create a smokey aftertaste with a savory kick.

Throw out the old notion that white wines go with white meat. While a good rule of thumb for beginners, it really does not work for all food pairings. This rule can be (or must be) broken, especially when dealing with the hefty texture of turkey and its traditional side dishes. Certain whites can actually be uncomplimentary to turkey meat, making some reds a better match. I have categorized my wine picks in order, from the safest to more adventurous.
